Have You Ever Had A Crush?

As you may know, I watch a lot of booktube. I'm a fan and sometimes I come across videos that talk about the next book to movie adaptations. In one of those I got to know about a book called Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda, and as you already know I'm also a big fan of cinema and I like to read the books before the movies come out, Simon was not the exception.  “ Why is straight the default? Everyone should have to declare one way or another, and it shouldn't be this big awkward thing whether you're straight, gay, bi, or whatever. I'm just saying.”   This quote isn't the first thing you read in the book, actually I think it's on page 100 or so. What I liked about this quote was what it stood for, in this society we have standards for everything including sexuality and we shouldn't assume that someone is straight just because the majority is like that. There's a pretty funny scene in the movie trailer were the teenagers are coming out as gay, bi...

As you may know I'm a cinema fan, I love movies and most of the times if I watch a book to movie adaption, I read the book. I had watched Pay it forward based on the book by Catherine Ryan Hyde but had never read something by her.  I was surfing on the internet when I found this book, I know you can’t judge a book by its cover but I loved it. When I read the synopsis I knew I had to buy it. The plot is a heart-breaking story that follows two persons Nathan and Nat, who create a beautiful relationship, making us feel empathy for each one of them. " What do I have to do to make you wash your hands of me? There's nothing you could do. I will never was my hands of you" .  This is in the back cover. The moment I read it my heart melt because I could tell the story would include true love and I've always felt that if you loved someone more than yourself then you would never give up on that person, I have always lived by that "rule" so when I read that ph...

Do You Know a Place Called Half Blood?

I've always been a Greek mythology fan, so when I went to the movies to see the not-so good book to movie adaptation of The Lightning Thief (First book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians saga) I got hooked to this story and wanted to know more about it, eventually I bought the book and got fascinated by it. " Look. I didn't want to be a Half-Blood... If you're a normal kid and you're reading this because you think it's fiction, great. Read on. I envy you for being able to believe none of this ever happened " This are some of the very first words you read at the beginning of the book, and I appreciate that the author takes time to make us believe this was real. I think it's part of creating the world and the magic, of wrapping you around the story. Obviously, this book is for kids so the author is  just trying to make us think this world really exists. Because this is a book for kids it has more innocent jokes but they're so funny, I ca...

Back To Hogwarts

Like you know, I'm a Potterhead. And due to the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, I decided to re-read all seven books, I've already read the first two, but I would like to write about this one the most. I really like the book to movie adaptation of this book, but I think the story leaves behind many secrets and surprises that are within it. Not for anything J.K Rowling decided to add them in this specific part, but for the purpose of explaining many things we didn't know of Harry's past. That's why I prefer the book.  “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”  I think this is the book where more tricks happen, and this is phrase everyone has said at least one time, not literally, before doing something bad. I like to see that Rowling understands how we, at the age thirteen, want to explore the world and she portrays it very well in Harry. This is the year when he discovers more about his past, himself and Hogwarts. Also, I found the tight r...

All Hail The Queen

Because I love books, I look for people who share my passion so we can discuss about them and so I can get recommendations and expand my knowledge. I've come to find out that there are people who talk about books in YouTube, they're called Booktubers and they are so big that they have a community called Booktube Media. There was a time when all in my life was surrounded by this media, so eventually I got to meet new books everybody was talking about. Red Queen was one that really caught my attention.   “The gods rule us still. They have come down from the stars. And they are no longer kind.” I read this quote in the back cover of the book, besides everything else that told what the story was about, and I was completely sold. It wasn't a matter of time before I bought the book and sat down to read it. I was entirely interested in the premise, a world divided by blood where people are more and are less depending on theirs. Where have I seen this before? I thought it wa...

A Peculiar Place

Ever since I was a child I've loved movies, and I like to think of myself as a certain actor follower (meaning I like some actors and actresses and usually when a movies comes out and they appear in it, I watch it). Same thing happened with Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children book to movie adaptation, I had already my eye on the book but hadn't come to read it. So, when someone (whom I thank so much) gave it to me as a Christmas gift, I knew it was a sign and had to read it.  Like many books I choose to read, I loved it and couldn't wait for buying the rest of the trilogy. I had many expectations on this book and some of them were fulfilled but I can't deny that while reading this book I felt like it was a bridge for something so much better for the ending.  “Do you ever find yourself climbing into an open grave during a bombing raid..and wish you'd just stayed in bed?” I can easily relate this to my life and that is why this quote stuck with me. ...

I love Netflix, mostly because of the original TV series it can have and usually if a series has the title "Netflix Original" I give it a chance. I know how good they can be. So, when I found out Netflix was going to adapt Asher's book 13 Reasons Why, I knew I had to read it before the series came out, not for anything would have Netflix picked that book from many others. So, I bought the book the same weekend I watched the Teaser Trailer and not long after did I started reading it. Many of my schoolfellows and teachers had praised this book so much and I had many expectations on this books. I thought it was going to amaze me. It didn't but I still liked the book for many reasons, one of them being that it opened my eyes to this topic. "I hope you're ready, because I'm about to tell you the story of my life. More specifically, why my life ended. And if you're listening to these tapes, you're one of the reasons why."  I remember once that...
